Sam met Xi in Beijing to deliver a report on Macau’s latest developments, the government’s work over the past year, and priorities for the coming year. Premier Li Qiang and other senior officials were also present.
Marking the first year of the sixth-term MSAR Government, Sam said his administration had united society in implementing Xi’s speech at the 25th anniversary of Macau’s return to China. He stressed adherence to the “One country, two systems” principle, safeguarding national sovereignty and security, and exercising Macao’s high degree of autonomy under central jurisdiction.
Sam noted the principle of “patriots governing Macau” had been fully implemented, with the Legislative Assembly election proceeding smoothly. He highlighted reforms in public administration and the successful joint hosting of the 15th National Games by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau.
The Chief Executive said Macau’s overall situation remained stable, with steady progress in economic and social development. He pointed to strengthened efforts in developing the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, deeper participation in the Greater Bay Area, and advancing economic diversification.
Looking ahead, Sam pledged to fully implement Xi’s guidance, align with the country’s 15th Five-Year Plan, and roll out Macau’s Third Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development. Priorities include accelerating Hengqin’s development and promoting diversification to broaden Macau’s growth prospect
