Meanwhile, Beijing has issued a red flood warning. The water level at the Sangyuan section of the Jiyun River basin has reached the red alert standard, indicating a severe flood control situation.
The National Development and Reform Commission has urgently allocated ¥50 million (approximately $7 million) for post-disaster reconstruction in Hebei. This funding will primarily be used to repair damaged infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and water conservancy projects, as well as public facilities such as schools and hospitals, aiming to restore normalcy as quickly as possible.
In neighboring Shanxi province, Datong City’s Tianzhen County has also reported casualties. A passenger bus encountered difficulties during the heavy rain, resulting in 1 confirmed death and 13 people still missing. Shanxi Governor Lu Dongliang has gone to the scene to direct rescue efforts.
