China’s Foreign Ministry released a video on Tuesday titled “No Kneeling” in which it reaffirms its refusal to give in to pressure stemming from the trade war with the United States.
In the video, published on the ministry’s official account on the social network WeChat – similar to WhatsApp –, Chinese diplomacy argues that giving in to what it describes as American “hegemony” would not lead to a resolution of tensions, but rather to their worsening.
The ministry accused the US of triggering a global “tariff storm” and criticized Washington’s failure to make concessions to China, such as the 90-day suspension of tariffs decreed by US President Donald Trump for other countries.
Authorities have compared this dynamic to the “eye of a hurricane,” warning that the apparent calm is actually a “death trap” that precedes new turbulence.
“The historical record shows that concessions do not guarantee an easing of trade disputes and instead end up fueling increased pressure,” the Asian country’s diplomacy said.
“Giving in to an aggressor is like drinking poison when you are thirsty,” he described.
