During their visit to Seac Pai Van public housing, Sands China volunteers shared the spirit of the festive season with around 150 elderly residents. These individuals are users of the Peng On Tung Tele-Assistance program, organized by the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau (UGAMM).

The volunteers brought along cleaning supplies to tidy up the homes of the elderly, creating a welcoming environment for the Year of the Dragon.

Our volunteers look forward each year to this Chinese New Year visit with the elderly, expressing our care to them during this traditional festive season,” said Dr. Wilfred Wong, executive vice chairman of Sands China Ltd.  ”We are grateful to Peng On Tung for continuing their collaborantion with us to make this meaningful initiative possible and for their support of Macao’s elderly population. We thank our team members for another successful event and volunteering their spare goodwill and cheer.”

Long-standing Support

Sands China has been a proud supporter of the Peng On Tung Tele-Assistance program since 2010. To date, the company has donated MOP 3.03 million to help the program deliver value-added services to nearly 16,800 elderly people. The funds not only assist those with financial difficulties to access the service but also contribute to the development of more enhanced services.

Expressing Care through Meaningful Gestures

In addition to cleaning and tidying up, Sands China volunteers provided Chinese New Year gift packs to the elderly residents. These gift packs, containing useful staples such as noodles, biscuits, and soup packets, were prepared by individuals with disabilities through the Fuhong Society of Macau.

Some Sands Cares Ambassadors with specialized training offered additional services like haircutting and simple household maintenance. The company’s facilities team also replaced burnt-out lightbulbs with new LED bulbs, ensuring a brighter environment for the residents.

This visit marks the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Sands Cares Ambassador program. Launched by Sands China in August 2009, the program has grown to include over 3,300 volunteers from across all Sands China properties. This provides team members with a platform to serve the local community through organizing various community activities and engaging in volunteer services.

Sands China aims to contribute to local social development, establish a harmonious and inclusive community, and convey love and care to local disadvantaged groups.
