The Chinese and Russian presidents will have an informal lunch today and will meet tomorrow, when they will also hold a joint press conference, the Kremlin announced last Friday.
“The communication between the President [Vladimir Putin] and the leader of China [Xi Jinping] starts on the 20th of March. It will be a face-to-face conversation, an informal lunch”, said Russian Presidency spokesman Dmitry Peskov at a press conference.
Peskov added that Tuesday will be the “day of negotiations” and that the two leaders will hold a joint press conference at the end of the meeting. Xi Jinping will visit Russia between today and Wednesday.
The two leaders last met last September, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Uzbekistan. Xi then expressed to Putin “issues and concerns” about the war in Ukraine, according to the Russian president.
