Pelé’s health has improved, but there is no date for his discharge

Pelé’s state of health has improved since he was hospitalized to treat a respiratory infection, aggravated by covid-19, informed today the doctors at the Albert Einstein hospital, in São Paulo.

Despite the improvement, the former Brazilian player Edson Arantes do Nascimento, known as Pelé, will remain hospitalized in that hospital unit, where he has been since November 29, and the doctors say that they still do not know when he will be discharged.

“He is conscious and his vital signs are stable,” reads a statement made public today by the hospital.

His daughter Kely Nascimento, who lives in the United States, today posted several photos on a social network next to Pelé in the hospital, with one of them holding her father’s hand, with the message “I’ve arrived”.

Pelé, 82, was admitted to the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein in São Paulo on September 29 to reassess the treatment of colon cancer, detected in September 2021, and to treat a respiratory infection, “with antibiotics”, explained the medical team at the time.

Since being operated on for cancer, Pelé has gone through a cycle of chemotherapy sessions that forced him to go to the hospital several times to closely monitor his evolution.

Pelé’s health has deteriorated in recent years due to other causes, such as problems with his spine, hips and knees, which have reduced his mobility and forced him to undergo surgery, in addition to having suffered a kidney crisis, which has drastically reduced his appearances. public, although he remains active on social networks.
