The hypothesis that NATO would be dragged into the conflict has disappeared with indications that the projectile that killed two people in Poland was fired by Ukrainian air defense. The president of the country targeted by the Russian occupation maintains a version that blames Moscow.
Ukraine had just received the biggest attack by cruise missiles since the beginning of the war, in the depth of a pattern that mainly targets energy infrastructure – millions of Ukrainians and Moldovans were left in the dark –, when it became known of an explosion in Przewodów , in eastern Poland, which caused the death of two people.
The government headed by Mateusz Morawiecki had an emergency meeting, as well as the national security council, and while the Polish authorities liaised with NATO, the suspicion that a missile had fired through Russia into the territory of the Atlantic Alliance was initially dealt with by some countries, Ukraine included, almost as a given.
The reality – at least so indicate the preliminary data – points rather to that it was a projectile fired by the Ukrainian forces to knock down a Russian missile. However, despite the hasty interpretation of the incident, Kiev insists on the thesis that it was the Russians, leaving President Volodymyr Zelensky isolated for the first time, and at the same time downplaying the consequences of the attack that Ukraine suffered.
