U.S. House may investigate Eduardo Bolsonaro over Capitol attack

The U.S. House committee investigating the attack on the Capitol is interested in information about the Bolsonaro family’s ties to Steve Bannon, former White House aide and chief strategist in Donald Trump’s administration, and is considering including the name of Congressman Eduardo Bolsonaro (União Brasil-SP) in the investigations.

The congressman was in Washington on January 6, 2021, the day of the invasion, to schedule a meeting with Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law.

U.S. Democratic Congressman Jamie Raskin, who sits on the committee – called the January 6th Committee – met last week with a Brazilian delegation that went to the U.S. to address the possible risk of institutional breakdown in Brazil’s elections. A participant of the meeting reported to Estadao that information about the “03” son of President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) is “welcome”, as the committee will now seek to understand the international ramifications of the movement to contest the 2020 elections in that country.
