A man was arrested on Friday night after trying to climb the Montparnasse Tower, the tallest skyscraper in the French capital, without a rope, a police source said.
The man, Polish national, whose identity has not been revealed, was arrested at 8 pm local time, on the top of the 209-meter building. He introduced himself to the agents as a tourist and started the climb in the late afternoon, without a safety device.
Police officers from the intervention and protection group rappelled down when the climber was halfway there, according to the source.
