Former President spoke of “his friend Joe”, whom he considers as a brother
In a speech from the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia, former President of the Republic of the United States of America Barack Obama highlighted the figure of his former vice president and Democratic candidate for this year’s presidential election, reinforcing that with Donald Trump , “democracy is at stake”.
“I never expected my successor to embrace my vision, or follow through on my policies, but I was hoping, for the sake of our country, that Donald Trump would show some interest in taking the job seriously; to feel the weight of the cabinet and to discover some respect for the democracy that was being placed in their care, ”Obama said.
“Donald Trump has not evolved in office because he cannot,” accused Obama, who blamed the Republican for the harsh consequences of his failure.
“One hundred and seventy thousand Americans killed. Millions of jobs have ended. The worst of us has surfaced, our reputation abroad has been diminished and our democratic institutions are threatened as never before, ”added the ex-President.
