Angolan government says there is “effective peace” in Cabinda despite “guerrilla actions”

The province of Cabinda is the scene, “from time to time”, of guerrilla actions, admitted the Minister of State and Head of the Security House of the President of the Republic, General Pedro Sebastião. But refuses to see instability in the region

According to Angolan Novo Jornal, General Pedro Sebastião answered a question regarding recent news about an alleged tacit recognition by the UN of the existence of a guerrilla group in Cabinda.

Pedro Sebastião ended up admitting, as it has not happened for a long time on the part of a member of the Luanda Executive, that “from time to time, here and there, groups may appear that can do one or another action” in Cabinda due to the porosity of borders.

“From time to time, here and there, groups may appear that can do one or the other action not as an organized action,” he said. “Cabinda’s news on social media does not correspond to the truth, there is an effective peace in that territory,” guaranteed General Pedro Sebastião.

The Minister of State and Head of the Security House of the President of the Republic, explained that, “as in Lunda there are groups of criminals, it is also possible that in Cabinda, with the porous borders we have, situations of violence may arise here and there , but from there to consider that there is a situation of instability, it goes a long way ”.
