The European Commission has provisionally authorized the sale of the antiviral medicine remdesivir for the treatment of patients with coronavirus in the European Union (EU). This decision comes, however, only after approval by the European Medicines Agency.
The Community Executive has granted “a conditional marketing authorization for the drug remdesivir, which becomes the first drug authorized at EU level for the treatment of Covid-19”, reveals a statement.
