The Social Affairs Bureau has indicated that Ice methamphetamine and cocaine were the most used drugs in Macau by drug addicts registered in the department’s database for the last five years.
Last year the number of people registered in the IAS Central Register of Drug Addicts slightly increased to 346 people, with 36.7 per cent and 23 per cent predominantly consuming Ice and cocaine, respectively.
Some 31 of the drug consumers registered were under 21 years of age, with the IAS noting that there has been a notable increase in the percentage of young people who use cocaine and cannabis in the city.
Some 296 people sought assistance in the IAS Drug Treatment Out-patient Center last year, with most involving residents between 45 and 59 years of age and concerning opium consumption, the IAS website indicated.
