North Korea blew up liaison office with South Korea

North Korea had threatened to demolish the office created to facilitate communication between the two Koreas after World War II.

North Korea blew up the liaison office with South Korea in Kaesong, a city near the border, on Tuesday, increasing tension on the Korean peninsula, the Seoul Unification Ministry said.

“North Korea blew up the Kaesong liaison office at 2:49 pm” (7:49 am in Lisbon), said a spokesman for the ministry in charge of relations between the two Koreas, in a statement.
