European Medicines Agency recommends first drug for Covid-19

The European Medicines Agency has recommended that the antiviral remdesivir be used for the treatment of covid-19 disease in patients in very serious condition.

The indication for the use of the medicine used to combat Ebola is for adults and adolescents over 12 years of age with pneumonia and who are receiving oxygen. Even so, the final word on whether or not to use remdesivir will rest with the European Commission.

“Remdesivir is the first drug against Covid-19 to be recommended for authorization in the EU.
