Epstein: King expresses ‘profound concern’ as police assess allegations against Andrew

King Charles has made his first public intervention in the unfolding Epstein scandal, expressing “profound concern” over allegations involving Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and signalling readiness to support any police inquiry.

In a statement issued by Buckingham Palace, a royal spokesperson said the King had made clear, “in words and through unprecedented actions,” his deep concern about allegations that continue to emerge regarding Mr Mountbatten-Windsor’s conduct. The spokesperson added that while the specific claims are for Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to address, the Palace would cooperate fully with law enforcement if requested.

“If we are approached by Thames Valley Police, we stand ready to support them as you would expect,” the statement said.

The intervention follows confirmation from Thames Valley Police that it is assessing whether there are grounds to open an investigation after a complaint was submitted by the anti-monarchy group Republic. The group reported Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor for suspected misconduct in public office and for a potential breach of official secrets, in connection with revelations linked to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The King’s statement marks a notable escalation in the Royal Family’s response, coming amid renewed scrutiny of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s past associations and conduct, and as pressure grows for formal investigation by the authorities.
