“Scheduled for October 18-19, 2024 at the City University of Macau, the event aims to equip participants with the necessary tools and insights for entering the European market, particularly in light of ongoing developments in China’s special economic zones.
The workshop will commence with opening remarks from Alexandre Leitão, Consul General of Portugal in Macau and Hong Kong, who will emphasize the importance of international business relationships and the strategic role of Oeiras Valley as a gateway to the European Union.
Following Ambassador Leitão, Ambassador António Martins da Cruz, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal and the President of OVIA, will deliver a keynote address. He will discuss Europe’s dynamic geopolitical landscape, the unique opportunities in Portugal, and Oeiras Valley’s role in promoting business initiatives.
The workshop will also feature António Lei, Director of the Economic Development Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, as a guest of honor.
The event highlights the growing relationship between Oeiras and China, notably through a partnership between the Portuguese construction company Teixeira Duarte and China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC). This collaboration has led to a €350 million investment in a major real estate project in Oeiras, which will include office buildings, residential areas, and commercial spaces integrated into a large green park.
Additionally, ISQ Instituto de Soldadura e Qualidade, based in Oeiras, plays a crucial role in enhancing quality standards and fostering international partnerships, with a network across Macau and Portuguese-speaking countries.
Oeiras Valley Investment Agency is a private not-for-profit association, created in March 2022, with the mission of attracting investment and promoting economic growth in Oeiras
The Oeiras delegation also includes Magnify Capital Partners, a venture capital firm focusing on sectors like food, education, and hospitality, and BNU (Banco Nacional Ultramarino), a key partner in fostering business relations between Macau and Portugal.
The workshop agenda features a diverse lineup of speakers, including José Alves, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Business at the City University of Macau, and Carlos Cid Alvares, CEO of BNU. Participants will engage in roundtable discussions covering investment opportunities in Portugal and the benefits of establishing a business in the region.
The second day will shift to the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin for discussions on operational plans and recent developments.
