Russian President Vladimir Putin met his Mongolian counterpart in Ulan Bator on Tuesday, his first visit to a member of the International Criminal Court (ICC) since it issued an arrest warrant last year.
Putin was greeted by an honour guard when he landed in the capital the previous evening to begin the high-profile trip, which has been seen as a defiant move against the court, Ukraine, the West and human rights groups that have called for his arrest.
He then met Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh in Ulan Bator’s imposing Genghis Khan Square, also known as Sukhbaatar Square.
