Putin meets Mongolian president under international arrest warrant

Putin was greeted by an honour guard when he touched down in the capital the previous night to begin the high-profile trip seen as a defiant move against the court, Ukraine, the West and human rights groups who have called for his detention.

Russian President Vladimir Putin met his Mongolian counterpart in Ulan Bator on Tuesday, his first visit to a member of the International Criminal Court (ICC) since it issued an arrest warrant last year.

He then met Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh in Ulan Bator’s imposing Genghis Khan Square, also known as Sukhbaatar Square.
