Jaime Carion and Li Canfeng sentenced to 20 and 24 years in prison

The former directors of public works were sentenced by the Base Judicial Court to effective prison terms of 20 and 24 years in prison, respectively. Li Canfeng has shouted his innocence in court and will appeal the ruling, as will Ng Lap Seng and Sio Tak Hong.

This was one of the most tense moments of the reading of the sentence at the Base Judicial Court (TJB) this Friday, regarding the case that judged two former directors of Public Works. A total of 18 defendants were sentenced to effective prison sentences for the crimes of money laundering, corruption and connection to a secret society.

Also noteworthy is the 20-year prison sentence imposed on Jaime Roberto Carion, who was for many years director of the then Directorate of Land, Public Works and Transport Services, and of businessmen Ng Lap Seng, William Kuan and Sio Tak Hong, the 15, 18 and 24 years in prison, respectively.
