Austria on alert for possible Islamist attack in Vienna
Without revealing the origin of the information, the police communicated to the population of the capital of Austria that it reinforced security in several buildings and increased the presence of agents in the city, reported the American agency AP.
“There is a non-specific threat of aggression against churches,” warned the Austrian police on the social network Twitter. “As a precautionary measure (…) the points of interest were placed under greater surveillance by the regular and special operations police forces,” he said.
The police “will immediately warn through all available channels” if there is a “concrete danger to the population in a specific location”.
Authorities do not yet know how long the special security measures will be in place.
