Minister of Justice, Flávio Dino used social networks to announce that he received the request from the Italian Justice for serving the sentence of attacker Robinho in Brazil. In the European country, the player was sentenced to nine years in prison for the crime of collective rape.
– The Ministry of Justice received the request of the Italian Justice regarding the former player Robinho. The administrative admissibility was made and there was a referral to the STJ, in compliance with the Federal Constitution. Judicial proceedings have begun – wrote Flávio Dino.
According to G1, Minister Maria Thereza de Assis Moura, president of the Superior Court of Justice, asked for Robinho to participate in the process of homologation of the Italian sentence. Brazilian law does not allow the extradition of native Brazilians to other countries.
If the attacker’s defense objects, the case will be forwarded to the Special Court of the STJ. Robinho was convicted of a collective rape, which occurred in 2013, when the athlete was playing for Milan. The sentence determined by the Italian Justice took place in January 2022.
