“The task of military struggle is arduous and heavy,” Xi said during a visit to the joint operations command center of the Central Military Commission (CMC), the body that controls the Chinese armed forces, quoted by state television CCTV.
Xi, as chairman of the CMC, urged all military personnel to devote their energy to developing “combat capability”, aiming to be ready to “fight and win a war”.
The Chinese president’s remarks were made on his first visit to the headquarters of the People’s Liberation Army after the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), which was held last month.
Xi secured a third term as CPC general secretary and CMC chairman during the congress.
