Indonesian authorities raised the death toll at a football stadium on the island of Java to 131 on Wednesday, with 400 people injured.
The deputy governor of the province, Emil Dardak, where the tragedy occurred, said, in a message published on the social network Twitter, that six fatalities were removed from the scene directly by the families and, therefore, were not included in the official record.
The tragedy, the worst in the country’s football history and one of the deadliest in the world, occurred on Saturday night when thousands of Arema supporters invaded the pitch at the Kanjuruhan stadium in the city of Malang, following the defeat of the home team. .
