Activist is a controversial figure among Chinese dissidents abroad, as he defends conservative views
Chinese dissident Chen Guangcheng spoke at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday night to endorse U.S. President Donald Trump for re-election and to urge other countries to join what he called the incumbent leader’s struggle for “the future of the world ”, stopping the“ aggression of the Chinese Communist Party ”.
“The United States must use its values of freedom, democracy and the rule of law to create an alliance of other democracies to prevent the CCP’s aggression,” said Chen, an activist who fled China in 2012. “President Trump led that, and we need other countries to join him in this fight, a fight for the future of our world. ”
