Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau launches a monograph on contemporary Portuguese art music research

Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau recently has published a Chinese transltion of Música Portuguesa Contemporânea – Jorge Peixinho, Cândido Lima, João Pedro Oliveira.

According to the introduction of Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau, the purpose of publishing this book is because in terms of modern music exchanges, Chinese academic circles are relatively unfamiliar with Portuguese contemporary art music. To fill the gap, the Cultural Affairs Bureau decided to translate the referred book into Chinese.

to place this vacancy in the understanding of Portuguese contemporary art music in Chinese academic circles in modern musical exchanges. “Contemporary Portuguese music -Jorge Minnow, Candido Lima, JoaoPedro Oliveira was translated and published in Chinese.

Written by Helena Santana and Rosario Santana, the book contains the works of three of the most important Portuguese art music composers, namely Jorge Peixinho, Cândido Lima, and João Pedro Oliveira, in the 20th to 21st centuries.

The book conducts a series of researches on composition techniques and principles of composers’ music creation ideas and methods, and provides valuable literature for contemporary Portuguese art music research.

The translator of the book, Shao Xiaoling, has also transalted MÚSICA CATÓLICA EM MACAU NO SÉCULO XX – Os Compositores e as suas Obras Vocais num contexto histórico único, published also by Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau.

The book is now available at the Macau Cultural Plaza, The Government Information Centre, Pinto Book shop, Macau Museum of Art, and other local book shops.
