Beijing court gave cause for dismissed employee after having surgery
The Chinese transgender community is celebrating what it sees as a major victory against discrimination at work, after a Beijing court ruled in favor of a trans woman who was fired after having sex reassignment surgery.
In a rare decision on discrimination against transgender people, the court said the Beijing Dangdang e-commerce platform was wrong when it fired an employee for “absences from work” after she took two months off in 2018 to undergo surgery, as the court’s written judgment.
