The levels of antibodies found in people recovered from covid-19 decreased rapidly two to three months after infection in symptomatic and asymptomatic patients, according to a Chinese study, which raises doubts about the duration of immunity against the new coronavirus.
The research, published in the scientific journal Nature Medicine, highlights the risk of using covid-19’s “immunity passports” and justifies the prolonged use of public health interventions, such as social distance and the isolation of high-risk groups.
