Isabel dos Santos escaped being constituted defendant

Businesswoman Isabel dos Santos escaped the constitution as a defendant in the mega-operation of searches and judicial seizures of houses and offices in Lisbon, Porto and Algarve, as she was outside Portuguese territory during the due diligence days.

In the operation, which took place last Thursday and Friday, in the North and South of Portugal, several defendants were indicted, but the absence of Isabel dos Santos from Portuguese territory for these days (Wednesday and Thursday) prevented her being constituted as an accused ( person against whom there is a strong suspicion of having committed a sufficiently proven crime), according to the newspaper SOL.

The searches and judicial apprehensions took place in the context of seven judicial investigations against the Angolan businesswoman in the Central Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DCIAP). The companies of the daughter of José Eduardo dos Santos, who has already led the list of the richest women in Africa by Forbes, based in Portugal, may have committed several economic and financial crimes in that country.
