The number of Americans applying for unemployment insurance decreases slightly every week, but the unemployment rate may have reached 20% in May and the demonstrations that shake the country show inequality in the face of the crisis according to the color of the skin.
The United States registered 1.87 million new claims for unemployment insurance last week, the Department of Labor reported on Thursday.
However, the number of new orders in the week ending May 30 was 249,000 less than in the previous week, indicating a decrease in the layoff rate since the country’s pandemic began in mid-March.
