The European Commission approved this year a liquidity package in the order of one billion euros to Portugal because of the economic emergency resulting from the measures to try to stop the covid-19 pandemic, but part of that money will have to be returned if it is not executed. The amount in question is 400 million euros and on it “there will have to be a settlement of accounts” in a while, revealed Planning Minister Nelson de Souza,
In a press video conference organized by the European Parliament (EP), with the presence of the minister and MEPs Margarida Marques and José Manuel Fernandes, the two Portuguese leaders of the EP negotiation team for the Multiannual Financial Framework, the minister acknowledged that “there has been resource flexibility “on the part of Europe, but made it clear that this does not mean new money. “It is not possible to have more funds”, declared the minister.
