President of the Republic confirms that on Saturday (2nd) the state of emergency will end. But he admits the possibility of resorting to this type of measure again.
The President of the Republic now puts the evolution of the contagion of the covid-19 in the hands of the Portuguese, when the date is approaching when the state of emergency will end (at midnight on May 2) and the state of public calamity will begin.
After another meeting with epidemiologists at Infarmed – where, as usual, the Prime Minister and party leaders also participated – Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa said that now “the evolution of the outbreak depends on the Portuguese”, confirming that he does not intend to renew the state of emergency (which started on March 19).
