Foreign-linked firms cautiously optimistic on Macau, neighbouring regions outlook: MECC survey

Foreign-linked enterprises operating in Macau hold a cautiously optimistic view of the economic prospects of the city and its neighbouring regions “despite facing certain global economic challenges,” with strong interest in technological innovation, regional integration and Hengqin development, according to an inaugural business sentiment survey released on Monday.

The 2025 Business Sentiment Survey, published by the Macau European Chamber of Commerce (MECC), shows a modest improvement in business outlook compared with 2024, with respondents holding neutral-to-positive views on regional economic integration despite ongoing global economic challenges, according to a press release.

Most companies indicated they would maintain or slightly increase investment in Macau, focusing on new revenue streams, operational localisation and the formation of new partnerships.
