‘We sincerely apologize to the fans and all related parties who were looking forward to ‘Music Core in Macau.’ Should a more stable environment be established in the future, we will review the possibility of moving forward with the concert once again’ MBC announced.

Political tensions between China and Japan have recently led to the cancellation of several concerts by Japanese artists in mainland China and in Macau, including scheduled concerts in the SAR by Japanese singers Mika Nakashima and Ayumi Hamasaki.

Comments by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s that a Chinese attack on Taiwan would constitute an “existential crisis” for Japan, justifying military intervention led China to retaliate with economic measures, including import bans, restricted travel, and the cancellation of concerts.

Concerts by Korean bands have been practically barred in mainland China since 2016 due to political tensions between the two countries, with Macau becoming the main alternative location for Chinese K-Pop fans to attend such concerts.

Originally scheduled for February 7th and 8th at the Macau Outdoor Performance Venue, the event was to feature japanese and Korean bands including Tour’s Do-hoon, Hearts2Hearts’ Aina, and Zero Base One’s Kim Kyu-bin and Jang Hao.

The lineup also include artists such as Alpha Drive One, ENHYPEN, Kickflip, STAYC, WayV, CIX, Boy Next Door, Hearts2Hearts, Mark, NSIN, Ten, Xdinary Heroes, and Zero Base One.
