The Dress a Girl Around The World (DAGATW) – Macao Chapter officially presented the humanitarian mission that will take place between February 7 and 21 to the Consulate General of Mozambique in Macau. During the meeting, representatives of the NGO (non-governmental organization) detailed the objectives of the initiative, which focuses on delivering children’s clothing and school supplies to vulnerable children.
Founded in the United States in 2009, DAGATW operates globally through volunteer work, providing new and dignified clothing to children in need, while promoting protection, dignity, and hope.
The mission in Macao comes at a time of urgent need, as Mozambique continues to be affected by extreme weather events such as severe droughts, floods, and cyclones, which exacerbate the situation of children at social and economic risk.

The team of volunteers from the Macao section consists of five members – Isabel Marcelo, Fátima dos Remédios, Cristina Sá Carneiro, Madalena Cardoso, and Ana Cristina Vilas – and plans to distribute the donations mainly at the Central Hospital of Maputo, in the Oncology and Pediatrics units, as well as at the IVERCA Association, an organization of young students and tourism professionals that promotes cultural and environmental development in the country.
The project has the institutional support of the Association of Friends of Mozambique in Macao and the President of the Regional Council of Asia and Oceania of the Council of Portuguese Communities, reinforcing the community spirit and international collaboration of this initiative.
During the meeting with the Consulate, collaboration was requested to facilitate coordination with the Mozambican authorities, ensuring the proper delivery of donations and the success of the mission.
This initiative highlights the importance of humanitarian projects organized by local communities, which not only provide direct assistance to vulnerable children but also strengthen the bonds of cooperation between Macao and Mozambique. The mission underscores the role of volunteerism as an instrument of concrete solidarity, promoting hope and dignity in regions affected by social and environmental crises.
