Figures published by the authorities show that total inbound and outbound movements during the nine-day holiday period amounted to 6.25 million. Inbound visitor arrivals accounted for 1.139 million trips, while outbound visitor movements stood at 1.136 million. Most travellers passed through the Border Gate, the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge checkpoint, and the Macau checkpoint at the Hengqin port.
The increase in holiday travel comes as Macau continues to benefit from deeper regional integration within the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macau Greater Bay Area. Recent policy measures have expanded cross-border mobility, including arrangements allowing vehicles from Guangdong province to travel to Hong Kong. These initiatives build on earlier schemes that permit Macau and Hong Kong vehicles to enter mainland China without obtaining local licence plates, easing cross-border movement for both people and vehicles.
Separately, the Public Security Police Force said earlier that Macau had received 39.41 million visitors as of December 27th this year, surpassing the city’s highest annual total recorded in 2019 for the first time.
