The figure was on par with an AFP forecast based on a survey of analysts. In the first three quarters of 2025, the Chinese economy grew 5.2 per cent year-on-year Industrial production rose 6.5 per cent last month, NBS data showed, outperforming a Bloomberg forecast of 5 per cent.

“The national economy withstood pressure and continued to maintain steady progress,” the NBS said in a statement on the first three quarters of the year.

Another key indicator revealed on Monday, retail sales, grew last month at their slowest pace since November. The 3.0 per cent year-on-year rise in September, announced by the NBS, was in line with forecasts in a Bloomberg survey.
