This initiative aims to improve professional standards in preventing and responding to cybersecurity incidents while ensuring the successful execution of the 15th edition of the National Games and Special Olympics for the Disabled.
The exercise involved key organizing entities for the games and representatives from 17 operators, including telecommunications, electricity, water supply services, and the Macau International Airport Authority, along with cybersecurity supervisory bodies.
Sit Chong Meng, PJ director, emphasized the increasing significance of cybersecurity threats in his address. He noted that these risks have infiltrated both traditional and non-traditional security domains, posing complex challenges. “The landscape of cyber warfare and technological threats continues to evolve, with new types of cyber crimes emerging,” he stated.
The CARIC center aims to enhance cybersecurity protection capabilities within Macau’s society, supporting the new government in achieving high-quality development through robust security measures.
Police authorities added that the exercise featured simulated cyber attack and defense scenarios designed to deepen participants’ understanding of hacker methodologies, with participants said to have been able to implement preventive measures, incident response strategies, and evidence collection techniques, thereby strengthening their resilience against cyber threats.
