Provisional statistics provided by the Public Security Police Force said a total of 918,628 visitor arrivals were recorded between October 1 and 6, ahead of the holiday’s final two days. The majority — 778,081 — were travellers from mainland China, reflecting an 11.3 percent increase year-on-year.
Border Gate remained the busiest crossing point, handling 414,385 visitors, followed by Hengqin Port with 172,770 and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge checkpoint with 149,785. Air arrivals through the city’s international airport reached 52,637 during the period.
October 4 was the busiest day so far, with 191,132 visitor arrivals, up 18.1 percent from 2024, while October 5 saw the sharpest decline, down 24.4 percent year-on-year to 112,996.
Tourist arrivals peaked at 191,000 on 4 October before dropping to 113,000 the following day due to typhoon Matmo, which prompted weather authorities to raise Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 8 between 2 and 11 am on Sunday (5 October).
The figures exclude non-resident workers, students and other long-term stayers. China’s Golden Week — which this year coincides with the Mid-Autumn Festival andruns this year from October 1 to 8 — is traditionally one of the busiest periods for Macau’s tourism and gaming sectors.
