The 60th Meeting of the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Working Group of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation was recently held in Jeju, South Korea, bringing together representatives from various economies to discuss strategies and challenges faced by SMEs. Macau was represented by the Economic and Technological Development Bureau, in the capacity of “guest economy member.”

The meeting focused on the discussion of the strategic plan for 2025-2028, highlighting the exchange of experiences and innovative practices that promote the sustainable development of SMEs. Topics included the optimization of the entrepreneurial environment, access to financing, integration into global value chains, as well as digital and green transition processes.

During the meeting, Chan Chi Ieng, Head of the Division for Industrial and Commercial Support Activities of the DSEDT, presented the latest measures of the Macao SAR Government to support the digital transformation of local SMEs. Among the initiatives are the “SME Digitalization Support Services 2025,” which provide training, business diagnostics, and free digital solutions, along with the organization of the “SME Digital Solutions Experience Day,” which allowed enterprises to engage directly with cutting-edge innovative technologies.

According to the DSEDT, Macau will continue to actively participate in APEC activities, strengthening cooperation with other regional economies to jointly promote sustainable and innovative growth of SMEs across the Asia-Pacific.
