The White House announced on Tuesday, August 12th, that President Trump would meet with Russian President Putin on Friday in Anchorage, Alaska. The meeting will be held one-on-one, meaning Ukraine will not have a representative present.
Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov and US Secretary of State Rubio discussed the preparations for the meeting between the Russian and American presidents during a phone call.
According to ABC News, which cited two US officials, Trump and Vice President Vance will hold a video conference today, August 13th, with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy and other European leaders.
Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine will not back down on territorial integrity and will not withdraw from the 30 percent of the eastern Donetsk region it still controls. He also said that Ukraine will not give up its bid to join NATO or accept any proposals to limit the size of Ukrainian military formations.
