The road accident took place in Imam Sahib district on Wednesday evening and resultantly, a child was killed and 45 others, including women and children, were injured, the health official said, adding some of the injured who have been taken to hospital are in critical condition.

In the meantime, provincial police spokesman Jumadin Khaksar has confirmed the mishap, saying the ill-fated victims would attend a wedding party when their mini-bus diverted from the road, causing several injuries, primarily children and women.

Without providing more details, the official said that an investigation had been initiated into the mishap.

Similarly, officials have confirmed that road accidents in the central Bamyan and the northern Balkh provinces left 11 travelers injured a couple of days ago.

According to Afghans, dilapidated roads, reckless driving, and lack of safety measures during driving on congested highways, could be the main reason for road mishaps in the mountainous country, as more than 400 people have reportedly been killed in traffic accidents over the past three months.
