The whereabouts of Brittney Griner, basketball star in the United States, has finally been revealed by the athlete’s lawyers. After being sentenced to nine years in prison for drug possession and smuggling, she was transferred to a penal colony in Yavas, in western Russia.
“We were with her earlier this week. Brittney copes as best she can and tries to hold on and adapt to new conditions. She began serving her sentence in Mordovia’s reformatory prison No. 2,” said the athlete’s lawyer, María Blagovolina.
The sentence was not accepted by the United States. According to the president of the United States, Joe Biden, the country is trying to release Griner, who was convicted in August when she was caught at a Moscow airport with cannabis oil in her backpack.
