Biden praises Angola in defending the environment

The US statesman was speaking at the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP27), taking place at the Tonino Lamborghini International Convention Center Sharm el-Sheikh, in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

Joe Biden highlighted, on the occasion, the fact that Angola joined the list of beneficiary countries of the facilitation project for adapting to climate change, based on transparency, partnership, protection of workers and the environment.

One of the many projects already underway and with satisfactory results, emphasized Joe Biden, is the partnership between North American companies and the Government of Angola, embodied in an investment of two billion dollars for the construction of new solar projects in Angola.

President Joe Biden also alluded to the agreement signed in Washington last September between the Ministry of Energy and Water and Sun Africa, a US company operating in the Renewable Energy sector, in an act witnessed by the Head of State. Angolan, João Lourenço.

In his speech, the American statesman asked, on the other hand, that all countries reduce greenhouse gas emissions, assuring that the United States of America is doing its part in the fight to limit global warming.

He also highlighted the need for all countries to do more, renew and raise their climate ambitions.

In front of an audience of more than a thousand personalities participating in the COP27, taking place until the 18th of this month, Joe Biden recalled that his country is making available 150 million dollars in initiatives that specifically support climate adaptation efforts throughout Africa, including the adaptation exercise that Egypt and the United States jointly launched in June.
