A group of conservative Russian deputies from the Liberal Democratic Party will present in parliament a bill to abolish prison sentences for those convicted in the Ukrainian territories annexed by Moscow.

The proposal that will be presented to the Lower House of the Russian parliament (Duma) provides for the abolition of convictions for people who are already imprisoned after being sentenced under the Criminal Code of Ukraine in the Ukrainian territories that were occupied and annexed by the Kremlin.

Specifically, the measure, if approved, could grant freedom to prisoners in Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson and Zaporijia prisons, whose crimes are not “registered in the Russian Penal Code”, said the deputies. to the TASS agency.

“The draft federal law establishes that the criminality and punishment of acts committed in the territories of the People’s Republics of Donetsk and Lugansk, as well as in the Zaporijia and Kherson regions (…) are determined in accordance with the norms of the criminal legislation of the Russian Federation ”, refers in the document of the Liberal Democrat Party.
