Macau Investimento e Desenvolvimento, the Macao SAR company operating in Hengqin, cut the “regional subsidy” without any explanation. Workers do not know who to complain to
Several Macao workers at the Traditional Chinese Medicine Park, a public investment by the Macao SAR on Ilha da Montanha, saw a “regional subsidy” of 1,000 renminbi cut, without any justification, and were unable to file a complaint. At issue is the fact that workers do not want to be identified, and, contrary to what happens in Macau, the Interior authorities do not investigate anonymous labor complaints.
The case was revealed by affected workers who called the Forum Macau program on the Chinese channel of Radio Macau. Subsequently, the All About Macau newspaper tried to understand the labor protection mechanisms of local workers employed in Hengqin, which resulted in a ping pong between the Secretary of Economy and Finance and the two companies with capital of the MSAR, Macau Investment and Development and Guangdong-Macao Technology of Traditional Chinese Medicine Industry Park Development. In the end, no clarifying answer was obtained.
