In the Ukrainian capital, “a significant number of residential buildings are without heating,” according to the Ukrainian president. “It is important that the world does not remain silent about this,” Volodymyr Zelensky stressed in a message shared on social media.
According to Kyiv’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, and the head of the military administration of the capital region, Timur Tkachenko, the eastern bank of the Dnieper River – which divides the city in two – was the most affected by the bombardment.
Reuters, citing regional authorities, reported that one person died in the Kyiv metropolitan area.
During the early hours of the morning, before officials released the first assessments, the Ukrainian Air Force had already warned via its Telegram channel that unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) and ballistic missiles were heading toward the capital.
According to the Ukrainian president, the “Russian attack involved a significant number of ballistic and cruise missiles,” as well as “more than 300 drones.”
