Wong also assumed the position of Secretary for Administration and Justice, succeeding André Cheong Weng Chon. His previous role as Secretary for Security has been taken over by Chan Tsz King, while Tong Hio Fong was appointed as Prosecutor-General.
The three officials were sworn in at 10 a.m. before Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai in a ceremony where they pledged allegiance to the People’s Republic of China and the Macau SAR, and to faithfully perform their duties in accordance with the Basic Law.
More than 260 guests attended the ceremony, including Edmund Ho, vice-chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference; Zheng Xincong, director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macau; Liu Xianfa, commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Macau; Yu Changjiang, commander of the People’s Liberation Army garrison in Macau; and Song Man Lei, president of the Court of Final Appeal.
Also present were Legislative Assembly members, representatives of the judiciary, and Macau’s deputies to the National People’s Congress and members of the CPPCC.
