Sands Cares Ambassadors host families from the Macau Autism Association for Sands China Presents: Seafaring Delights, a fun Sunday outing. The group of 70 visited Sands China’s Coastal Fantasia outdoor pop art exhibition and went on a sailing of Cotai Water Jet’s Macau Cruise Tour.
Sands China’s initiative aimed to create a positive impact by offering families a unique maritime and cultural tourism experience.
The group of 70 began their journey at the Macao Science Center waterfront, where they admired Coastal Fantasia: The Lobster King’s Vacation in Macao, featuring world-famous pop artist Philip Colbert’s iconic Lobster persona.
They took photos at the massive Lobster Submarine inflatable and four thematic sculptures along the shore.
The event continued with a special tour of a Cotai Water Jet ferry at the Taipa Ferry Terminal. Participants explored the ship, learned about crew responsibilities, and visited the ship’s bridge, where the captain explained navigation systems.
They then sailed on the one-hour Macau Cruise Tour, where they enjoyed panoramic views of Macao’s coastline, including landmarks like the Macao Science Center, Kun Iam Ecumenical Centre, and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
Dr. Wilfred Wong, Executive Vice Chairman of Sands China Ltd., emphasized the company’s commitment to fulfil corporate social responsibility and inclusivity. “Through this special cruise tour, we aim to share warmth with families of autistic individuals by showcasing the beauty of art and maritime tourism. We will continue investing resources to create equal opportunities for groups with disabilities to participate in art and cultural activities, while sharing the fruitful achievements of cultural tourism development with the community,” he said.
Ruby Hui, Director General of the Macau Autism Association, expressed gratitude for the event, highlighting its impact on autistic children and their families.
The outing aligns with Sands China’s support for the 2025 Macau World Autism Awareness Day, fostering a more inclusive society.
In addition to the Macao Science Center waterfront, Philip Colbert’s citywide ‘Lobster’ pop art exhibition is on display at the lagoon of The Venetian Macao and at the historic sites of the former Iec Long Firecracker Factory and Taipa Houses until March 16, and at The Parisian Macao’s Le Jardin until May 14. With the exhibition and other efforts, Sands China continues to integrate ‘tourism+’ initiatives, enhancing Macao’s cultural tourism profile.
