Bishop Américo Aguiar, who was presenting the official program of the Pope’s visit to Portugal this Tuesday morning, revealed that the leader of the Catholic Church will meet with around 30 victims of sexual abuse, but that for now location information will be shared.
“There will be a meeting with victims of sexual abuse, but we have to safeguard the victims. It’s not a taboo or limitation of information, it’s an agreement so that it can happen with the greatest peace of mind. In person, to date, there has been contact with 30 people in the diocesan commissions, perhaps 30 (to meet the Pope) ”, he advanced.
Asked who came up with the initiative, Américo Aguiar said that it was “a marriage with a community of acquired interests”. “The Holy Father has always expressed this desire, just as we, in all preparatory meetings, have always expressed this desire”.
