Number of visitors to Macau rises 76.8% in October

The number of visitors to Macau rose 76.8% in October in annual terms, and 4% compared to September, it was announced today.

The territory received 580,333 visitors in October, with the majority (518,843) coming from mainland China, said the Directorate of Statistics and Census Services (DSEC), in a statement.

The number of tourists (313,542) and excursionists (266,791) rose by 181.4% and 23%, respectively, compared to the same month of the previous year, when there was an outbreak of covid-19 in the territory.

The average length of stay for visitors was 1.8 days, minus 0.5 days in annual terms.

In the first ten months of this year, 4,944,438 visitors entered Macau, 18.7% less than the same period in 2021, he added.

In 2019, the Chinese special administrative region received more than 39.4 million visitors.
